I have been on FLO for 3 years and at the CLC for the past 2 years. The CLC has helped me to complete my SACE compulsory subjects, find casual employment and more importantly, they have supported me with my anxiety. I feel so connected to the teachers and Case Managers at the CLC and I am so happy a place like this exists.
Welcome to the NESPN Community Learning Centre (CLC)
Our centre is based around the needs and aspirations of young people who have been referred into the Flexible Learning Options (FLO) program as their learning pathway.
The NESPN* Community Learning Centre is a partnership between the 7 North-Eastern High Schools including, Golden Grove High School, Banksia Park International High School, Modbury High School, Roma Mitchell Secondary College, The Heights School, Valley View Secondary School and Avenues College. Students are provided with a range of youth services through the Flexible Learning Options Program.
The CLC was established in January 2013 and is a testament to school/community partnerships working together towards supporting youth, addressing barriers and access to education, training and employment.
Students can work towards completing the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), whilst being able to access a range of accredited courses, engagement programs, independent life skills and work ready skills based upon their interests and strengths. Counselling by Case Managers and CLC staff is available to support students in making the decision as to which pathways to follow. At the NESPN CLC, our three key elements of focus include learning, wellbeing and transition.
In 2014, the Community Learning Centre won the South Australian Excellence in Public Education Award for Innovative Engagement and Collaboration with the Community.
